So the February tour dates where a complete disaster, I had starting feeling a bit under the weather around February 10. I had caught a 48hr stomach flu bug, I believe I caught it while out collecting money on the Las Vegas stripe while I was out raising money to send underprivileged kids to see Black Panther. A few days later my security guy and assistant caught the full blown flu and I had to nurse them back to health. I had thought I would be fine, since I got 2 flu shots for different strands of the virus.
After about 10 days they where fine, and we where off to Seattle. That’s when I started to slowly but surly noticing signs of the flu. At first I thought it was a passing 24hr bug, and was going to start the Settle BJM event on its assigned date. The day before it was supposed to start, I had the full blown flu, and was unable to see anyone. After a few days trying to bet better in my Seattle hotel, I had to fly to Portland (the tickets and hotel had already been pre-booked and paid for), the flight made it even worse, and I was completely at the mercy of the flu. I had never been so miserable. I had never been to Portland, and after 3 times trying to make this tour stop happen, I was finally here. I spent the entire time in my hotel room, I didn’t get to meet any of my fans or explore the city.
I was supposed to head to Minneapolis next , but I ended up postponing it along with the Milwaukee tour stop. I decided to come to my friends house in Brooklyn to take the time to properly treat the flu, and let my body heal itself. After a few days here in NYC, I’ve finally beat the flu, and am on the mend. Since I was already in New York, I decided to move up my late April NYC BJM event, and have it take place March 14-17, before I continue on to Minneapolis and Milwaukee.
I feel so much better now, my energy and appetite has returned, I did lose 20lbs during this ordeal, which I see as the only good thing to come from getting the flu. I’ve given myself plenty of time to completely get better for my NYC BJM event. I am going to spend the next few days just chilling, reading books, and just enjoy being in NY.
